WHO WE ARE
Friends of NRA supporters, donors and sponsors are people just like you. We are individuals, families and business owners concerned about the future of the shooting sports here in Central Florida and across the country.
We believe that youth education, firearm training and safety, range development and conservation efforts are important.
Friends of NRA is a grassroots fundraising program that supports thousands of programs related to firearms education, hunter safety, wildlife conservation, range improvements, youth marksmanship, law enforcement, and the like. Working with NRA field representatives, members and volunteers organize banquets in their communities, which come complete with auctions, special drawings and fellowship. Much of the merchandise at the banquets is donated or provided at reduced cost by hundreds of participating vendors.
Half of the profit raised by our Friends of NRA banquet is spent in the State of Florida. The other half supports qualifying national-level programs. State Fund Committees, which are made up of volunteers, review grant applications from local organizations and make recommendations to The NRA Foundation on how the money might best be used in their areas.
Since its inception, Friends of NRA has held over 21,000 events nation wide, reached over 4 million attendees, and raised over $815 million through its wildly-successful fundraising program for The NRA Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
THE NRA FOUNDATION
The NRA Foundation is the country's leading charitable organization in support of the shooting sports, raising more than $815 million since its inception in 1992 and funding more than 45,000 grants. The NRA Foundation supports those organizations and programs that ensure the continuation of our proud shooting and hunting heritage.
Foundation grants provide essential program funding, ensuring the availability of quality training and educational opportunities nationwide. Grants benefit programs such as youth education, law enforcement training, hunter education, conservation, firearms and marksmanship training and safety, and much more.
Through its grant support of eligible educational programs, The NRA Foundation carries out its important educational mission across the country. Foundation grants allow shooting sports-related programs to develop, expand, and enhance their educational curricula to deliver valuable services to millions of Americans.
What is the NRA School Shield program?
The NRA School Shield program has a singular mission: to protect our children. Recognizing that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to school security, the NRA School Shield program is committed to addressing the many facets of school security including best practices in security infrastructure, technology, personnel, training, and policy. Through this multidimensional effort, the NRA School Shield seeks to engage communities and empower leaders to help make our schools more secure.
